Princess Sodalite Mine and Rock Shop
The Princess Sodalite Mine is one of the most interesting mining sites in Ontario because it contains vast quantities of Sodalite, a blue mineral that is much admired for its rich colour. The Princess of Wales visited here in 1901 and was presented with a piece of Sodalite. She later requested 130 tons be shipped to England, hence the current name of the mine. Visitors can mine for Sodalite themselves and see what all the fuss is about.
